Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 17 intends to award a firm fixed price services contract to Hologic Inc., to provide a service agreement for preventive maintenance (PM), repair, and other support services of one (1) each Cytyc model Thin Prep 2000 tissue processor. The equipment is located at and the requesting location is Olin E. Teague VA Hospital Temple, TX. NAICS 811219 applies. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 U.S.C.253 (c) (1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) with FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items and specifically FAR 13.501 Special Documentation Requirements, where acquisitions conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, but still require a justification using the format of FAR 6.303-2. The described contract will simplify meeting recurring needs for the above described services at Temple VAMC, and only Hologic can fulfill this requirement. No other company is expected to respond to this requirement. Period of Performance shall be from the date of award and will extend for 12 months hence. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. It is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available. However, any qualified vendor that determines it can meet the government's requirements may give written notification through e-mail to the Contracting Specialist, Rolando Pasayan, at rolando.pasayan@va.gov no later than 7 March, 12pm CT. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
