Description
The National Park Service has a requirement for the following project. If you are interested, please submit your detailed capabilities in WRITING to demonstrate same or similar experience. This is not a request for proposal or invitation to bid. No proposal package, solicitation, specification or drawings are available with this announcement. Response to this announcement is strictly voluntary; no reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this sources sought announcement or any follow-up information requests. If you choose to submit a package, clearly identify the park and project on your package (YELL 189105 Mammoth Hotel) and identify your socioeconomic status (8(a), HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran, WOSB, EDWOSB, and Small). Your email capability information MUST be 6 pages or less and be SPECIFIC to the scope provided. You must also provide a letter from your bonding company verifying your bonding levels. Your response is due no later than 4:00 pm Mountain Time on March 14, 2016. The Government anticipates conducting a competitive acquisition for this requirement. The amount of interest or lack thereof will determine the possibility of a competitive set-aside or full and open competition (the size of a small business firm includes all parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, etc.-see 13 CFR 121.108.) Misrepresentation of size status can result in penalties. All firms should be registered and certified in www.SAM.gov. Yellowstone National Park Mammoth Hotel Seismic Stabilization Phase 1 NAICS Code: 236220 Estimated Cost Range: $5 million - $10 million Estimated Period of Performance: July 2016 - August 2017 Project Description The Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a primary contributing property within the Mammoth Hot Springs Historic District. More than 3 million visitors come to Yellowstone each year. 95,000 overnight guests stay at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel annually, while thousands of day use visitors come to the Mammoth area as part of their visit to Yellowstone. This building has a ground level footprint of 18,845 square feet (sf). The total square footage for the building is 56,787 sf. The Guest Wing accounts for 43,420 sf. Currently there are 124 guest rooms serving 95,000 guests annually. As winter wolf viewing has become more popular with the public, this facility has seen a corresponding increase in winter use. The Mammoth Hotel Rehabilitation involves the structural and seismic stabilization of the Lobby, Porte Cochre, and Map Room areas of the historic, 90 year old Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. Additionally it includes upgrades to the life safety, mechanical and electrical systems and addresses ADA and egress issues to meet current codes in these areas. The scope of the project includes: 1. Demolition and removal of existing interior structures, partition walls, restrooms etc. 2. Seismic and structural stabilization of the Hotel which requires construction of shear walls, structural roofing systems and moment frames. 3. Construction of two new two-story additions and a basement mechanical room. 4. Replacement of a portion the original electrical system. These electrical upgrades include new distribution panels and wiring for services expected by the guests. Light fixtures and emergency lighting shall be upgraded. 5. The one pipe mechanical heating system will be replaced with a two pipe thermostatic controlled system. A new steam to hot water heat exchanger system will be installed. All exposed heating pipe will be insulated. The system shall be designed to allow future expansion into the guest room areas. 6. Fire-smoke detector systems and fire sprinkler systems will be upgraded, including a new fire riser in the new mechanical room in the new basement. Areas of refuge will be constructed. 7. Construction of a new entry vestibule and an accessible elevator. 8. Work must be coordinated with other construction contracts at the Hotel. There is a strict construction schedule to have the Hotel ready for the summer 2017 season. ****Firms interested in the project should possess the following specialized skills and experience and address these specialized skills and experience in their responses to this Notice. 1) Experience in the construction of similar complexity and size projects. Submit 3 projects completed within the past 5 years that are similar to the scope of work noted above, including: a. Work on similar size (by dollar value) projects b. Work on historic structures 2) Experience working in a similar environment, including: a. Working on hotels while the hotel is occupied b. Responsibility for the protection of cultural and natural resources, such as National Parks c. Experience working in cold weather conditions with snow and ice accumulations and in areas of high ground water d. Experience working in remote area where material deliveries and worker commutes are difficult. Bonding Capability Interested firms MUST provide a letter from their bonding company to confirm their bonding capacity.
