Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source Notice of Intent to Sole Source Supply Description Experimental mono-layered PLGA 3D cell culture scaffolds (12.0-12.2 mm diameter discs), ±20 micron thick, 200-300nm, PLGA 5010, mono-layer, thermally fused GLP GRADE. Quantity: 1,000. Supplier Stellenbosch Nanofiber Company (PTY) Limited. Justification The supplies are mono-layered PLGA 3D cell culture scaffolds (12.0-12.2 mm diameter discs), 20 micron thick with a fiber diameter of 200-300nm with thermally fused fibers manufactured in GL. This supply is needed for generating polarized retinal pigment epithelium cells patch from induced pluripotent stem cells. This work is part of the cell therapy project funded by Common Fund the Office of NIH Director. The National Eye Institute, Unit on Ocular Stem Cell & Translational Research (UOSCTR) compared these reagents from other sources and have found this supplier is the only one that provides PLGA nano-fibers of the quality needed for the experiments planned with the UOSCTR stem cell-derived retinal pigment epithelium work. Furthermore, scaffolds bought from this supplier meets specification of GLP-grade experiments.
