Description
"THIS IS A SUBCONTRACTING OPPORTUNITY" Lora Foster Purchasing Specialist Minact, Inc Operator of the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center Excelsior Springs Job Corps 701 St. Louis Ave Excelsior Springs, MO 64024 816-629-3125 All quotes must be submitted to Lora Foster, Purchasing Specialist by close of business April 8, 2016 at 5pm Central time. They may either be mailed or hand delivered to the Purchasing Department. The Excelsior Springs Job Corps is not liable for any cost for the preperation of quotes or obligates the center to enter into any type of subcontract. The Center will evaluate the quotes by cost and quality of technical know how and experience. Findings: The stone retaining wall bordering the campus along St. Louis Avenue at the north end of the campus is severely deteriorted. The lack of proper water drainage and inadequate grading resulted in hydrostatic pressure which pushed wall sections outwards and stone pieces to fall onto the adjoining sidewalk. The capping stones on top of the wall also slipped out of alignment or simply broke. All these created hazardous conditions for pedestrians. Recommendations: Hire a design build contractor to remove the existing retaining wall and replace it with a standard VERSA-LOK stone wall system or equal. Excavate an area approximately 24" wide x 12" deep. Remove a 12" section of sidewalk as required to perform the excavation. Compact soil, removall all organic materials and install a compacted granular leveling pad (6" high x 24" wide, made of well compacted, road grade base aggregate). Line the top of the pad with a thin layer of sand and lay the base course units of the block wall starting at the lowest grade, directly onto the leveling pad, below the finished grade. Set back each course 3/4" and install a matching solid concrete cap, 12" deep, using concrete adhesive. Place cap so that it overhangs the course below by 3/4". Backfill the excavated area near the pad and the base course, and compact it well. Install a 4" perforated drainage pipe above the compacted area, and provide outlets at 40' on center. Backfill with drainage aggregate (min 12" thick), re-grade and add topsoil and re-seed to complete the work. Ensure that the re-graded soil is above the stone cap. Replace section of removed sidewalk to match existing. Wall Length: 400LF Wall Height: 2'- 6" Drain: 4" perforated drain with outlets at every 40' - 0" Sidewalk: 40 SF
