Description
Intent to Sole Source Intent to Sole Source. Please see Sole Source attachment for complete details. The US Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Region Acquisition Division, Simplified Acquisition Branch intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Teledyne Ocean Science, 2245 Camino Vida Roble, Suite 100, Carlsbad, CA 92011, using the procedures in FAR Part 13, to upgrade two (2) Teledyne Z-Boats onboard the NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson. These upgrades support and improve a unique hydrographic survey platform. The Z-Boats require installation of a side scan sonar system including power integration, specific wiring, through hull fittings and a hull mount package. In addition to the new sensor package, one of the vessels requires a system that will allow it to operate on its own, as opposed to a direct connection with the operator. The autonomous vessels, their control systems, and the integration of these new sensor packages are unique and the only one of their kind on the market at this time. This procurement includes two (2) side scan sonars, a robo module, and the integration of these sensors in the ship’s two Teledyne Z-Boats.
