- This RFI is to help solidify the USAF's specifications for a proposed FES-PPE Fire Fighting Helmet enterprise-wide solution. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) / SOURCES SOUGHT: THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR QUOTATION BUT INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY! It does not constitute a solicitation and/or quote and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Air Force Fire Emergency Services (FES) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program has taken a brief strategic pause to evaluate the program's current state. The Government is taking all industry questions and recommendations strongly under advisement. As such, several technical and programmatic requirements regarding the FES-PPE Fire Fighting Helmet acquisition are currently being reviewed for potential revisions and we request your considerate response to the attached request for information (RFI). Additionally, this notice will also serve as a Sources Sought. The Government is interested in all businesses including Large, 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), or, if applicable based on the 339113 NAICS code-Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing (Subcategory - Firefighting Suits and Accessories Manufacturing), any Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) and/or Women Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) that are interested in performing this requirement. The responses to notice will help Government determine the appropriate contract solution (e.g. Full and Open, Full and Open After Exclusion of Sources (Small Business Set-aside), or Other Than Full and Open). As stipulated in FAR 15.201, responses to this notice are not considered offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. The decision to solicit for a contract shall be solely within the Government's discretion. Finally, any information submitted by respondents to this RFI / Sources Sought is voluntary. This notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government reimburse any costs associated with the submission of information in response to this notice. Respondents will not be individually notified of the results of any Government assessments.
