- Solicitation Number: INDUSTRY DAY USACE GALVESTON Notice Type: Special Notice Synopsis: The Galveston District Corps of Engineers (SWG) will host a Small Business Industry Day on May 4, 2016 at the Jadwin Building, 2000 Fort Point Road, Galveston, Texas 77550. The purpose of this Industry Day is to conduct market research at the programmatic level in order for SWG to establish acquisition plans for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 as well as the opportunity to partner with local contractors to maximize interest in SWG's contracting requirements. There will be representatives from the District's Operations and Management Office, Project Management Office, Construction Management Office and Architectural and Engineering Office to give brief overviews of their requirements. SWG has a diverse mission that encompasses primarily civil works projects. SWG is responsible for maintaining 760 miles of shallow draft waterways, 240 miles of deep draft waterways, 13 shallow ports and 15 deep draft ports within a 50,000 square mile geographic area consisting of 48 Texas counties and 2 Louisiana parishes along the Texas Gulf Coast. SWG provides support to the Department of Homeland Security within its District Boundaries for primarily vertical construction, A-E, etc. While the bulk of projects are dredging or dredging related requirements such as levee repair, hydrologic surveying, placement area repair, soil and water testing, etc., we also require facility maintenance/repairs on the Jadwin Building, which houses the District's Main Offices, as well as area offices located in Brownsville/Port Isabel, Corpus Christi, and Port Arthur. The Galveston District requires work mostly from the following NAICS Construction Codes: 236, 237, and 238. Other codes identified are 541380, 541330 and 541620. These are the Codes used predominately in the Galveston District. Late registration for the event will begin at 8:30 am with the program starting at 9:00am and ending at 15:00. Lunch will "NOT" be served at the facility. Lunch will be from 11:30 - 13:00. This one day event will consist of presentations by the offices referenced above in the morning session and an open forum with tables set up in Rooms 175 and 185 for the attendees to visit liberally with the offices within the District. There will also be two breakout sessions that will be held after lunch, in conjunction with the open forum. All attendees are required to have a form of picture identification and/or a valid driver's license before they can enter the facility hosting the event.
