- This Request for Information (RFI) is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal. This request for information shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to award a contract. The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst NJ (NAWCADLKE) is requesting information from industry in order to identify qualified vendors interested in the services and supplies associated with the production of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) Emergency Braking System (EBS) Energy Absorption (EA) Blocks, Part Number 34000D1562592 in support of CVN 78. The Launch Motor Subsystem EBS EA Blocks are crushable structure that absorbs the shuttle kinetic energy through the strike plate and brace in the event of the failure of the primary braking function. The EBS Blocks have been designated as Critical Application Items. Respondents to this RFI should provide the following: 1. Company description 2. Clear identification of a technology suitable for systems 3. Definition and functionality 4. Evidence of company technological subject matter expertise 5. Company technical point of contact (POC) relevant to technology (ies) 6. Technology industry applications 7. Technology consumer applications 8. Technology/concept rationale as related to system requirements 9. Technology/concept challenges as related to system requirements 10. Technology/concept limitations (size, weight, maturity, etc.) 11. Any additional information that will assist in understanding responses to this RFI THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. It is not a Request for Proposal, a Request for Quotation, an Invitation for Bids, a solicitation, or an indication that NAVAIR will contract for the items contained in the RFI. NAVAIR will not pay respondents for any information generated for or provided in response to this RFI. The Government will not reimburse the respondent for any costs associated with the information submitted in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. The Government will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside of the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend. Submit your response in a Microsoft® Word or compatible format document in no more than two single-sided, single-spaced pages, 12-point, Times New Roman font, using a minimum of one-inch margins.
