Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Fixed Price Service Contract to Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., Molecular Imaging, 810 Innovation Drive, Knoxville, TN 37932-2571, on a sole source basis to procure maintenance, support and emergency service coverage for the HRRT Scanner (High Resolution Research Tomograph) as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the PET Department, NIH, Clinical Center. The Government intends to include a Base Period of 12 months and four (4) 12 month Option Periods in the Contract. The HRRT Scanner is used in the research projects of many institutes at the NIH to study a variety of physiological processes in health and disease. A maintenance contract is required to maintain the current level of operation (8:00am to 5:00pm daily). The manufacturer, Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. has not authorized any third party service providers, third party sales of valid software, or parts distributors for this specialized and proprietary equipment. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12 in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements in FAR Part 6. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this posting number, may be submitted to the CC, Office of Purchasing and Contracts, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Lisa Schaupp, Contract Specialist, Lisa.Schaupp@nih.gov, by the due date and time marked in this notice.
