- THIS IS NOT A ADVERTISEMENT. THIS PRESOLICITATION SERVES AS NOTICE THAT A ADVERTISEMENT IS IMMINENT IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. This project is for Design-Build services for the design, demolition, and construction of five bridges in Trinity County, CA. The existing structures are single span, with lengths ranging from approximately 37 feet to 60 feet and widths ranging from approximately 13 feet to 17 feet. The bridges are separated geographically from each other with nearly 100-miles between the most southern site to the most northern sites. All five locations are on rural, mountainous roads. The proposed structures are to: •· Be open bottom; and •· Span the waterways and convey the design-year storm event; Four structures are to be single lane. One is to be double lane (one lane in each direction). Up to 400 feet of roadway approach work is anticipated on either side of each structure. This work may include excavation, embankment, placing aggregate surface, and some minor asphalt pavement. ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE: The design, construction, and Right-of-Way/access costs for the Project is estimated to be between $4,000,000 and $6,000,000. SCHEDULE: The Design-Build solicitation will be done in two phases. A Request for Qualifications is anticipated to be available in April 2016. An optional site visit will be held during Phase 1 to allow proposers to view all accessible bridge sites. Based on current snow pack, only the Mumbo Creek bridge is inaccessible, however conditions may change. Interested parties will meet at the Little Creek Bridge at 8 A.M. on April 20, 2016. Each Proposer will provide their own transportation to review the sites, which is anticipated to take nearly 10 hours to complete, and include nearly 230 miles of driving in potentially inclement weather. Four-wheel drive capable vehicles required. Due to limited space at the project sites, each proposer team should consolidate into one vehicle. Questions will be addressed at each of the bridge sites, however there will be no summary of the site visit for those who do not participate. At least three firms will be short-listed. A Request-for-Proposals will be sent to the short-listed firms in or around June 2016. Award of contract is anticipated to be in or around August to October 2016. Completion of the Design-Build contract (engineering, right-of-way acquisition, permitting, and construction) is anticipated to be in 2017.
