- Draft Statement of Work - Crysectioning, Mounting and Immunohistochemisty (C-fos) for 100 Mouse Brains. Title: Cryosectioning, Mounting, and Immunohistochemistry (cfos) for 100 Mouse Brains This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential services requirement. Background: The Treatment and Branch Support, of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) proposed to procure 100 cryosectioned and histochemically stained mouse brains using c-Fos antibody to analyze the immunoreaction of the product for The National Center for Complementary and Integrative (NCCIH), in accordance with the objectives below. This project is being pursued to contribute to our understanding of how the brain processes itch sensations, and how these phenomena are modulated by social interactions. Purposes and Objectives: The contract effort goals and objectives are to section and immunohistochemically stain mouse brains for c-Fos protein to be visualized within the amygdala. The resulting microscope slides will be photographed under a microscope and cell quantification will be performed. Data resulting from this work will be published in scientific manuscripts Project Requirements: Major tasks of the Contractor include the following: 1. Tissue preparation (mouse brain) including sectioning with cryostat (30um) collection and storage of 7 sets of free floating sections in FD Section storage solution at -20 degrees Celsius for up to 2 years. Serial sections (30um) will be cut coronally through the cerebrum containing the amygdala. 2. Testing and titration of the primary antibody for colorimetric immunostaining on free floating sections of mouse brains. 3. Colorimetric immunostaining with 1 primary antibody (c-fos) on free floating sections of the mouse brains. The sections will be processed for c-Fos immune reactivity with commercial c-Fos antibody provided by the Investigator. 4. After thorough washing, all sections will be mounted on slides dehydrated in ethanol, cleared in xylene and coverslipped. Immunostained slides will be placed in a slide box and stored securely until pick up by Investigator. Other Important Considerations: • Include taxes, shipping and handling/customs fees and special handling instructions. • Include descriptive literature, warranties, and /or other information that demonstrates the ability to meet the above specifications. Capability Statement/Information Sought: We encourage all responsible sources, particularly small businesses, to submit a capability statement which will be considered by the agency. Organizations that submit capability statements in response to this notice will be evaluated against the following criteria: Documented capacity to process tissue for c-fos immunoreactivity, inactivating the endogenous peroxidase activity, and incubate sections with avidin and biotin solutions while also utilizing the same antibodies used in the lab, which is imperative to this requirement. Documented infrastructure, necessary equipment and human resource capacity to replicate this exact design within the required time frame, and allow the use of our own antibodies. Using identical antibodies provides great consistency in tissue staining and thus less variation in our research. Documented the expertise and experience necessary to process the tissue specifically for the project needs. The capabilities statement must provide the requirements as listed herein and documented evidence that the Offeror is capable of providing the services required. Anticipated Period of Performance: Delivery shall be made within 60 days after award. Information Submission Instructions: 1. Page Limitations: Interested qualified small business organizations should submit a tailored capability statement for this requirement not to exceed ten (10) single sided pages including all attachments, resumes, charts, etc. (single spaced, 12 point font minimum) that clearly details the firm's ability to perform the aspects of the notice described above and in the draft SOW. Statements should also include an indication of current certified small business status; this indication should be clearly marked on the first page of your capability statement, as well as the eligible small business concern's name, point of contact, address and DUNS number. 2. Number of Copies: One (1) electronic copy of the capability statement submitted electronically (via e-mail) to Mary Muir, Contract Specialist. 3. Delivery Point: All capability statements sent in response to this SOURCES SOUGHT notice must be submitted electronically (via email) to Mary Muir, Contract Specialist, at mary.muir@nih.gov in MS Word or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), by April 18, 2016 at 2:00PM, EST. All responses must be received by the specified due date and time in order to be considered. No collect calls or facsimile transmissions will be accepted. CAPABILITY STATEMENTS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE AND TIME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate.
