Description
Wage Determinations Solicitation No. DTMA91R1600023-Roof SOW for Roof Replacement In accordance with the attached Statement of Work, SF 1442 the US DOT/Maritime Administration intends to award a contract for the following: The U.S. Merchant Martine Academy (USMMA) is a federal service academy that educates and graduates licensed merchant marine officers who serve America's marine transportation and defense needs in peace and war. It is part of the Maritime Administration (MARAD), U.S. Department of Transportation. The USMMA is seeking a qualified contractor, experienced in historical restoration, to provide labor, material, tools, and equipment to restore the roof on the American Merchant Marine Museum (AMMM), which is located at 300 Steamboat Road, Great Neck, New York on the USMMA campus. Both the USMMA and the AMMM are listed on the National Register of Historic Places; USMMA as a National Historic District with the AMMM listed separately. http://www.marad.dot.gov/wp-content/uploads/pdf/Barstow_House_NR_Nomination.pdf. The property is considered historically significant on a statewide level as a reminder of the "Golden Age" of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It is a Mediterranean Revival style that reached its final form with a major reconstruction in1930-1931. The three-story dwelling is of stucco with a terra-cotta tiled roof. The property consists of two contributing features- the William S. Barstow Mansion (the museum) and garage-which retain their integrity from the period of significance, 1915-1960. Therefore, all work shall be consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (36 CFR part 68) http://www.nps.gov/tps/standards/four-treatments/treatment-guidelines.pdf. Additionally, all work shall meet or exceed the standards provided by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Illustrated Guidelines on Sustainability for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings http://www.nps.gov/tps/standards/rehabilitation/sustainability-guidelines.pdf and 36 CFR 67.7 - Standards for rehabilitation. http://www.nps.gov/tps/tax-incentives/taxdocs/36cfr67.pdf
