Description
Energy Summit Agenda NAVAL ENERGY STORAGE SUMMIT III Naval Undersea Warfare Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) The Naval Undersea Warfare Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) will host the third Naval Energy Storage Summit from May 24-25 2016 in Newport, RI. The Naval Energy Storage Summit continues the collaborative effort of the energy storage technical community in its effort to examine new innovative methods and technologies, aimed at reducing costs associated with energy storage, and offers the opportunity for energy storage professionals across a variety of sectors to collectively discuss the future of energy storage affordability. Specifically, the summit will explore the future of energy storage systems within the Navy, with particular consideration given to the Safe Common Affordable Lithium Energy Storage (SCALES) initiative. The summit will be kicked off with an address from keynote speaker Mr. Joseph Bryan, DASN Energy, and Dr. Edward Ammeen, NAVSEA 05Z, as well as discussion from other government entities focusing on the future of energy storage during the morning's plenary session. All invited industry professionals will be required to submit an abstract (maximum two pages), detailing their specific focus area in the context of statistical based reliability, casualty detection, and/or thermal runaway mitigation within the energy storage community, and why their company's attendance at the summit would be of benefit to the Navy. Participants will be ranked based on their abstracts and submissions will be down selected to contribute in industry-government one-on-one presentations and/or asked to facilitate poster sessions. Interested parties that should seek to attend are those that are active contributors to energy storage advancement/progression and will be evaluated based upon the novelty of the concept(s) outlined in their abstract. Attendees must pre-register by providing their abstract via email to Elin Rushton at elin.rushton.ctr@navy.mil by COB 2 May 2016. Please provide the individual's name, company, phone and e-mail address. Chosen companies will be limited to two attendees who will act as representatives. They must submit visit requests (either through JPAS or faxed) for each individual to the NUWC Division Newport Security Management Office (SMO) and will be vetted, thus U.S. citizenship is a requirement. A Visit Request is mandatory for all visitors to NUWC Division Newport, government and civilian, regardless of the duration or classification of the visit. Access to NUWC Division Newport WILL NOT be granted under any circumstances without a valid visit authorization request on file.
