Description
100 SLIDE LOADER AXIO SCANNER FOR SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, One Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594 for the acquisition of a Zeiss AxioScan System (unique slide scanner) with special features. The National Institutes of Health are requesting to purchase this specialized system which is required to image large amounts of histology slides (transmitted light and fluorescence) that are prepared by Histology CORE and other scientist in the institute. This unique slide scanner from Zeiss allows automated imaging of both bright field and immunostaining based slides and obtain image from whole sample using high resolution mosaic scans. It can scan and image one complete slide at different magnifications within 30 minutes. In addition, it tiles (compiles) all the different images and creates a montage image. It can scan and image 100 slides overnight. It will take a researcher almost 400-500 hours to complete the work that this scanner completes in one night. It will be used by all scientists at NEI and other institutions that require any kind of histological evaluations. We have found that this product is the only device that provides technical specifications needed for the experiments (sensitivity, resolution, speed, and repeatability) planned for preclinical animal work and regular basic research experiments. Also it uses the same software (Zen) that is currently used by the majority’s of NEI’s users, which allows comparing data obtained on other microscope systems. Zeiss Axio Scan System is modular and allows adding additional software modules later when needed. This Zeiss system has unique ability to scan large format slides that was not found in any other similar systems. This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of the FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i) allowing the Contracting Officer (CO) to solicit from one source. Interested concerns capable of providing the same or similar products or services as described in this notice may submit a capability statement outlining their capabilities.
