Description
Funding Opportunity Announcement for STEM Workforce Development for K-12 and College Students and Navy Workforce This constitutes a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) as contemplated in the Department of Defense Grant and Agreement Regulations (DoDGARS 22.315(a). The U. S. naval Research Laboratory-Stennis Space Center, MS (NRL-SSC) seeks proposals under authority of the National Defense Education Act (1959) to stimulate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) development. This FOA is intended for proposals related to the NRL STEM program for: (a) the NRL Pre-Engineering Program for Science, Technology and Mathematics for K-12 pupils attending either public or private primary, middle and high schools in St. Tammany Parish, LA, and in the following Mississippi counties: Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, and Pearl River; (b) STEM-focused workforce development programs targeting the present uniformed Navy workforce; and (c) STEM-rich education and outreach opportunities targeting Mississippi undergraduate students, notably at the freshman and sophomore levels. NRL solicits basic research proposals in the general DoD STEM Education and Outreach Program from colleges, universities, non-profit organizations and other institutions. Depending on the availability of appropriated funds, NRL-SSC may: (1) make multiple awards under the FOA; and (2) consider options exercisable for multi-year performance. It is anticipated that awards will take the form of Cooperative Agreements. Please see the accompanying document entitled “N00173-16-R-FO01” or the following website for details: http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/
