- Description
- The purpose of this contract is to increase health of pine plantations while developing a defensible fuel profile zone on the Almanor Ranger District. The contract tasks involve the thinning from below of pine plantations by mechanical thinning, whole tree yarding, and decking of biomass boles on approximately 139 acres. Additionally,tasks involve thinning of trees and reduction of brush by mastication on 57 acres and hand thinning trees on 5 acres. This solicitation will be available for electronic download May 3, 2016. This project is located within the Almanor Ranger District on the Lassen National Forest. Most units are located in the general vicinity of Stover Mountain; To go to units in the vicinity of Stover Mountain travel west from Almanor Ranger station on Highway 36/89 approximately 4 miles to Forest Service road 29N17, take 29N17 and travel north west approximately 5 miles to junction of 29N17 and 28N16 (Stover Spr.), take 28N16 and travel approximately 2 miles to middle of work area. Unit 5 is located in the general vicinity of Feather River Meadows. To go to unit 5 travel east on highway 36 from Almanor Ranger station 2 miles, take Feather River Dr. north for ½ mile, take Warner Valley Rd. (County Rd. 312) northwest and travel approximately 6 miles, take County Rd. 311 northwest and travel approximately 5.2 miles, take Forest Service 29N96 Rd. northwest and travel approximately½ mile to junction with29N96 and 29N07Y take the 29N07Y 1½ miles to unit. All treatment units are located in the following legal locations: T28N, R6E, Sections 8, 9, 16; approximately 5 air miles west of Chester, CA. T29N, R5E, Section 21; approximately 10 air miles northwest of Chester, CA.
