- Description
- The work required consists of mechanized hazardous fuels reduction to be accomplished on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests via issuance of firm, fixed price task orders following competition amongst multiple Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract awardees. Work ordered may be located across the entire Nez Perce - Clearwater National Forests. Vicinity and project maps, and other site-specific information will be furnished with the solicitation(s) and award(s) of individual Task Order(s). The IDIQ contracts shall be subject to stated maximum and minimum quantities. The awarded IDIQ contracts will include optional renewal periods in 2017 and 2018; exercise of one or more of these options is a unilateral right of the government and is not guaranteed. The mechanized hazardous fuels reduction shall be accomplished by one of, or a combination of, the following treatment options: machine piling of woody debris, machine fire line and/or fuel break construction and/or maintenance, mastication and/or chipping of vegetation, decking and mechanical felling of hazard trees. The contractor shall utilize appropriately sized machinery to accomplish the hazardous fuels reduction treatments in accordance with the terms, specifications, and provisions of this solicitation and resultant contract to complete the described work prior to the deadlines prescribed in each task order. Contractors shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals required to accomplish the work. Price reasonableness shall be determined based on competition for two current projects. One project, entitled Coral Mulching, requires hazardous fuels reduction using machinery with mulching/mastication capabilities across approximately 60 acres of ground located on the Palouse Ranger District in the vicinity of Deary, ID. A full description of the vegetation size/type will be provided in the solicitation. The tentative completion deadline for this project is October 15, 2016. The second project, entitled Cherry Pit Machine Piling, requires machine piling of hazard fuels generated through harvest activities on regeneration and commercially thinned timber sales. The regeneration unit is 129 acres in size and was harvested using a shelterwood silvicultural prescription. The commercially thinned units require piling along select machine trails and corridors across approximately 15 acres (25%) of the total 58 acres harvested. The units are located on the Palouse Ranger District in the vicinity of Deary, ID. The tentative completion deadline for this project is September 30, 2016. The complete solicitation shall be issued in mid-May with IDIQ and initial task order awards anticipated in early July.
