- The scope of the contract is to remove three modular bridges from a section of roadway on the Kake road system. One bridge will be transported to the Thomas Bay LTF where it will be stored (unless Option 2 is exercised). The other two bridges will be transported to the Tonka Road system where one will be installed and the other will stored in a log sort yard (unless Option 1 is exercised). Work will also include minor road maintenance activities, such as ditching, cleaning culverts, installing culverts, removing log stringer bridges on the Kake, Thomas Bay, and Tonka road systems. The project includes Mobilization of Equipment to perform the work, and consists of a Base Bid and 2 Option items. Base Bid-Includes the removal of three modular bridges (on the Kake road system), and one log stringer bridge (Tonka road system), installation of a modular bridge on the Tonka road system. The base bid also includes various road maintenance on the Kake and Tonka road systems. Option 1- Includes replacing a log stringer bridge located on the Tonka road system, road 6352, milepost 4.33 with the modular bridge that is supposed to be stored at the Tonka sort yard as part of the base of this contract. Option 2-Includes replacing a log stringer bridge located on the Thomas Bay road system, road 6101, milepost 0.988 with the modular bridge that is supposed to be stored at the Thomas Bay LTF as part of the base of this contract. SOLICITATION DETAILS. Estimated price range: between $100,000 and $250,000. Contract type: firm-fixed-price. Solicitation type: Invitation for Bids. Bid opening date: 30 days after solicitation issuance. Contract award date: within 60 days after bid opening. Required bonds: bid bond with the bid and performance and payment bonds after award of a contract. Do not ask questions until the solicitation is release on approximately 24 May 2016.

- Address: The project is located on the Petersburg Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest. The project encompasses Kake, Thomas Bay and Tonka. Kake is approximately 40 air miles west of Petersburg, Thomas Bay is approximately 17 air miles northeast of Petersburg, and Tonka is approximately 1 air mile northwest of Petersburg. These site locations can be reached only by plane, sea plane or boat. Off-loading sites for equipment access can be accessed through the Forest Service Marine Access Facilities (MAFs), which consist of a loading ramp and dock. Both Kake and Petersburg are full service communities, with daily commercial jet service and air taxi services and regularly scheduled ferry and commercial barge services., Near Kake & Petersburg, Alaska, United States
