Description
THIS IS A SUBCONTRACTING OPPURTUNITY Finding: The center is located in a cold weather region and has a history of ice storms with history of poer outages prolonged for 2 or 3 days. The cafeteria does not have a backup power generator sufficient to ensure safe refuge for all occupants for an abnormally extreme winter storm emergency event. Recommendation: Provide design and construction a 50 KW, 120/208V, 3-Phase, natural gas/propane stand-by power generator, including battery, battery charger, starter, muffler and connection to the natural gas line, generator main breaker and 200A manual transfer switch located in the north mechanical room. Provide a new 200A MCB, 120/208V, 3-phase, 4 wire, 42-circuit, NEMA 1 emergency panel. Essential loads to be backed up by the standby generator include: general lighting in the dining and the main kitchen and emergency lighting throughout the building, two exhaust and make up fans in the main kitchen, cooler and freezers serving the main kitchen, sprinkler and fire alarm systems, controls for the boiler and RTU. Provide all the necessary controls, heaters, pumps, etc. for the winter operation. Locate the generaator outside on a new concrete pad, near the notheast building corner. Provide for weather protection. Determine all loads that are not required and list on plaque near the transfer switch, stress that during summer time breakers serving RTU's need to be turned off. Provide traing and 1 year full aprts and service warranty with added annual options. Test the new generator monthly according to the manufactures and NFPA 101 and 110 requirements. Keep a monthly log sheet next to the unit to register monthly tests and necessary service. This log sheet shall be part of the centers safety/security documentation. Retain and maintain battery backup systems in the building as required for life saftey. For estimating, include installation of 50 KW, 120/208V, 3-phase natural gas/propane standby generator, an 200A, 120/208V, 3-phase MTS and 40LF of 4#3/0, #6 GRD, 25LF in 2 PVC, 15 LF in 2 EMT, 200A MCB, 120/208V, 3 phase, 4 wire, 42 circuit, NEMA 1 emergency panel, labor for rewiring.
