Description
Top Drawing 10522688 Description: The U.S. Army Contracting Command Rock Island, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the production of 7.62mm M172, Inert Loaded, Dummy cartridges, DODIC: A159. The 7.62mm M172 is properly weighted in terms of mass and center of gravity and physically contoured to represent a tactical M80/M80A1 ball round. This round is used in weapon manufacturing testing to conduct belt-pull tests for automatic weapons and for environmental conditioning tests of weapons, mounts and ammunition. The M172 linked cartridge is also used for developing new and/or improved mount systems for the vehicles that contain the M240 Series machine gun. Specifications: The 7.62mm Dummy, Inert Loaded M172 will be produced in accordance with: 1) MIL-DTL-60573A W/AMENDMENT 1 dated 27 September 2010, ", DUMMY CARTRIDGE, 7.62 MILLIMETER - M172, INERT LOADED "; 2) Government Drawings: 10522688 "DUMMY CARTRIDGE, 7.62MM, M172, INERT LOADED". The Government is interested in using an alternate environmentally friendly material for photographic fill material and coating material for this item. Planned Acquisition: The anticipated requirement is for the manufacture and delivery of 150,000 to 300,000 each 7.62mm M172 (A159) cartridges. The Government plans to award a Firm Fixed Price contract for this one-time buy in FY17 with deliveries required in FY18. Submission Information: All responsible interested sources are encouraged to submit their capability/qualification data with regard to the above, no later than 30 days from the date of this notice to: U.S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island, Attn: Christine Thornton, Rock Island Arsenal, IL 61299, or at Christine.m.thornton5.civ@mail.mil. Please include company name, address, telephone number, and technical point of contact, brochures/literature/test data. Firms interested in the production of the 7.62mm M172 Dummy, Inert Loaded should adequately describe their capabilities, capacity and experience in the production of same or similar ammunition along with information regarding the potential use of an alternate environmentally friendly photographic fill and coating material, if available. Interested sources shall also submit any backup data to support claims that their production process will conform to the above mentioned drawing requirements (a copy of the drawings may be requested from the Point of Contact listed above). In addition, the ability and past experience related to acting as a prime contractor to inspect, handle, package, and ship the necessary components shall be provided. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. Please be advised that the Government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement.
