Description
The Smithsonian has a requirement for a General Contractor to complete construction projects as summarized below for The Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park ("NZP") located at 3001 Connecticut Ave. NW Washington, DC 20008. The overall project is comprised of three separate construction efforts. One component, requires the relocation of public restrooms from the PolIce Station building into a new two‐level Multi-Use Space and Public Toilet building, approximately 7,300 SF, housing the public restrooms, multi-use/event space and corresponding support spaces. The next component, requires the renovation of the existing Police Station building of approximately 9,600 SF with small new additions, for a project total of 11,000 SF on two floors. The renovation will accommodate program needs of both the Office of Protection Services' (OPS) National Zoological Park Police (NZPP) and Occupational Health Services (OHS), including providing direct public and staff access to the OHS Health Suite and First Aid Station from Olmsted Walk, and relocating the Zoo's security data center from Lion-Tiger building. The third component, requires the installation of a new outdoor substation on the footprint of the existing Amazonia substation (the Amazonia substation components will be removed). The work includes a new substation (13.2kV duplex medium voltage switches, 2000kva liquid filled transformer, and three section 480V distribution switchboard), new underground concrete encased duct banks (both 13.2kV, and 480 V feeders), and associated distribution manholes. Work under this project includes LEED, Demolition, SWM, Site Utility work, Commissioning, Structural, MEP, coordination and permitting from DOEE and DCWATER authorities, Security and Fire Protection. All of these components will be based on the detailed sets of specifications for the projects which will be released with the RFP. Firm evaluation and selection will be conducted as a Best Value Procurement. Solicitation for this requirement is a Request for Proposal ("RFP") numbered F16SOL10044, which will issue between June 1, 2016 and June 15, 2016, unless otherwise announced by amendment to this Notice. The successful offeror for this contract will be competitively selected using negotiated procurement procedures in accordance with FAR Part 15 and Section M of the forthcoming Request for Proposals. The Smithsonian Institution intends to award one firm-fixed priced contract. This announcement is open to all businesses regardless of size. The contract awarded will be firm-fixed-price. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 236220.
