Description
Amendment #0001 The FAA intends to procure follow-on services via a competitively awarded contract by the National Weather Service. ------------------------------------------------------------- In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the FAA ™s decision to contract with a selected source via single-source procedures. The FAA intends to extend the contract (DTFAWA-11-D-00053) with ARINC Inc. of Annapolis Maryland by 9 months with 3-1 month options potentially extending the period of performance to 9/29/17, at an estimated value of $827,000.00. Under this contract, the FAA requires the vendor to collect the FAA does not intend to procure follow-on services, but intends to acquire these services via another agency ™s competitively awarded contractmeteorological observations obtained from various sensors on commercial aircraft and transmit this data in near-real time to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Weather Service (NWS), and the Global Systems Division (GSD) of the Earth System Research laboratory (ESRL), for use in aviation weather analyses and forecasting. This twelve month extension is in the best interests of the FAA because: 1) and 2) ARINC is the only vendor with a direct communications link to the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) supporting the FAA ™s Aviation Weather Research Program. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. The FAA is not liable for any costs associated with preparing a response to this announcement. All questions on this announcement should be addressed via email to the Contracting Officer, Dave Keehan, at dave.keehan@faa.gov, no later than May 13, 2016.
