Description
Statement of Need STATEMENT OF NEED Seat Covers •1. The following information is provided: •a. DESCRIPTION OF ACTION: The action required is to purchase law enforcement quality vehicle seat covers for Security Forces patrol vehicles. DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLIES: Security Forces require seat covers that will not tear from weapons and gear from mounting and dismounting vehicles. Currently, handguns are leg holstered, so seat covers must have a specific impenetrable Rip Stop material that efficiently protects against any sharp objects including the pistol grip from piercing the sides of the seat and back seat. Additionally, materials should be stain proof and waterproof. In addition, during increased FPCON's, Security Forces will don more personal protective equipment which will require the added protection in the seats. Seat covers need to be conservative in darker colors with minimal designs to meet the appearance of law enforcement. Quality should be the determining factor due to the nature of the job. The quality of the seat cover should not be stretchy for the sake of easy fitting to the seats. The most important factor for quality of the seat cover is the resistance in moisture, tear, wear, and other previously stated factors. Lastly, suppliers must offer specific vehicle make and model for snug fitment. All seats will be bucket seat style with or without airbags. Universal seat covers is not an alternative option since the fitment will cause looseness and degradation before warranty or soon after warranty expiration. The desired warranty period is at least 2 or more years.
