- Description
- The US Army, Army Contracting Command -New Jersey (ACC-NJ) Joint Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 08706-5000 in support of Army Research and Development Center (ARDEC) Packaging Division is conducting market research for companies with knowledge and capabilities with engineered plastic materials and packaging cushioning design. The Army is interested in potential high temperature cushioning materials that may be used for military packaging designs. The US Army ARDEC is requesting information and feedback from industry with respect to their knowledge of engineered plastic materials and cushioning products which can withstand elevated temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 24 hours. These materials are intended to provide similar cushioning characteristics as polyethylene foam cushioning at ambient temperatures with an increased melting temperature. The Government puts forth the following questions requesting responses relating to packaging cushioning products and solutions. 1. What packaging cushioning materials and products do you currently market and produce? What standards have these materials been tested to? What are these products used for? 2. What engineered plastic materials do you currently market and produce? What standards have these materials been tested to? What are these products used for? 3. What potential materials or products are you currently supplying or researching that could potentially be manufactured into a cushioning product such as a low to high density foam material? Can these materials or products withstand exposure to temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 24 hours? 4. Are there any engineered plastic materials you are aware of which can withstand high temperature exposure to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 24 hours? Is it possible to manufacture this material into a foam product? Is it possible to manufacture this material into a form other than foam that can provide cushioning and shock absorption to packaged material? Companies are invited to submit their capabilities and responses by providing brochures and any information pertaining to their ability to provide the above requested services/products. All information is to be submitted via email at no cost or obligation to the Government; information provided will not be returned. Responses shall also indicate the size of the business entity, large or small, and a copy of the most recent System for Award Management (SAM) certifications and representations.
