Description
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION/SOURCES SOUGHT INQUIRY 1. General Information: The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office (NCO) 7, Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center (TVAMC) is seeking information and sources that are capable of providing and installing data fiber cable. The location for these services is as follows: Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. 2. Scope of Work: Contractor shall provide and install data fiber cable from the main OIT computer room in Building 3, room 214 to room B34 in Building 145. Fiber shall be run from (A) patch panel in Building 3 Room 214 to patch panel in data closet room B34 in Building 145. With a separate fiber run from room (B) B34 in Building 145 to patch panel in room C18 in Building 61. Contractor is responsible for providing and installing new fiber patch panels in each data closet on existing rack. Contractor shall provide and install Hubbell's FEUR48LCOM3 model patch panel, or equal. To accomplish this fiber installation, Contractor shall provide and install the following: -Approximately 1200 feet of 36 strand, 50/125 multimode fiber cable from room 214, Building 3 to room B34, Building 145. -Approximately 300 feet of 36 strand, 5/125 multimode fiber from room B37, Building 145 to room C18, Building 61. -Recommend fiber patch panels (or equal) shall be provided and installed as follows: oFEUR48LCOM3, Building 3 room 214 (Qty:1) and Building 145 room B34 (Qty:1) oFEUR48LCOM3. Building 61 room C18 (Qty:1) and) Building 145 room B34 (Qty:1) Prior to commencing any work, Contractor shall field verify route and existing site conditions. In addition, Contractor shall perform work in accordance with the following requirements: A.Penetrations and Sleeves: "Lay out penetration and sleeve openings in advance, to permit provision in work. "Set sleeves prior to installation of structure for passage of pipes, conduit, ducts, etc. "Provide sleeves and packing materials at penetrations of foundations, walls, slabs, partitions, and floors. "Make sleeves that penetrate outside walls, basement slabs, footings, and beams waterproof. "Fill slots, sleeves and other openings in floors or walls if not used. "Fill spaces in openings after installation of conduit or cable. "Provide fill for floor penetrations to prevent passage of water, smoke, fire, and fumes. "Provide fire resistant fill in rated floors and walls, to prevent passage of air, smoke and fumes. "Install sleeves through floors watertight and extend minimum 50.8 mm (2 inches) above floor surface. "Match and set sleeves flush with adjoining floor, ceiling, and wall finishes where raceways passing through openings are exposed in finished rooms. "Annular space between conduit and sleeve must be minimum 6 mm (1/4 inch). "Do not provide sleeves for slabs-on-grade, unless specified or indicated otherwise. "Comply with requirements for fire stopping, for sleeves through rated fire walls and smoke partitions. "Do not support piping risers or conduit on sleeves. "Identify unused sleeves and slots for future installation. B. Core Drilling: "Avoid core drilling whenever possible. "Coordinate openings with other trades and utilities, and prevent damage to structural reinforcement. "Investigate existing conditions in vicinity of required opening prior to coring, including an x-ray of floor if determined necessary by competent person or COR. "Protect areas from damage. C. FIBER OPTICS BACKBONE CABLE: "Provide 50/125 micron OM3 multi-mode cable, containing at minimum strands of fiber mentioned above. "Provide loose tube cable, which separates individual fibers from the environment, or indoor/outdoor cables, for outdoor runs or any area that includes an outdoor run. "Provide tight buffered fiber cable or indoor/outdoor cables for indoor runs. "Terminate multimode fibers at both ends with LC type female connectors installed in an appropriate patch or breakout panel and secured with a cable management system. Provide minimum 610 mm (2 ft.) cable loop at each end. "Install fiber optic cables in TR's, Voice (Telephone) Switch Room, and Main Computer Room, in rack mounted fiber optic patch panels. Provide female LC couplers in appropriate panel for termination of each strand. "Test all fiber optic strands' cable transmission performance in accordance with TIA standards. Measure attenuation in accordance with fiber optic test procedures TIA-455-C ('-61', or -53). Provide written results to COR for review and approval D.
