- On or about 25 June 2016, this office will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for design and construction of the HIGH ALTITUDE RESEARCH LAB, PN 51639, located at Pikes Peak, Colorado. The solicitation will close on or about 21 July 2016. This solicitation is UNRESTRICTED and OPEN TO BOTH LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. A site visit for the project will be held. Provisions in the solicitation documents will provide detailed information (meeting place, time, points of contact, and access requirements). See SITE VISIT in solicitation Section 00 21 11. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See ‘Obtaining Solicitation Documents' below. Project Description: (Approx. quantities) This project is to completely demolish and replace the existing High Altitude Research Lab on top of Pikes Peak. The new facility will include Lab Space, a Kitchen and Day Room, Restrooms and Showers, laundry/janitors closet, storage, and a Dorm/Sleeping area. Its gross square footage shall not exceed the programmed area of 3,000 square feet. The demolition of the existing lab and propane tanks will be priced as an option to this contract. The existing lab can be used as a construction trailer during the construction of the new lab, and demolished after it is no longer needed. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Representations and certifications are required to be updated annually as a minimum to keep information current, accurate and complete.
