- The Defense Logistics Agency, DLA Maritime Norfolk of Norfolk Naval Shipyard Contracting Office, intends to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price contract to procure Rubber Blocks manufactured to the industry specification of ASTM D2000 M2BG610A14B14E014 to be used in Norfolk Naval Shipyard on board the USS SAN FANCISCO The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 339991(Gasket, packing, and sealing device manufacturing). The procurement will be 100% set aside for small business. The contract line item is as follows: 0001: Manufacture Rubber Blocks 18-1/2" X 24-3/4" X 2-3/4" thick to the industry specification of ASTM D2000 M2BG610A14B14E014 (296) EA 0002: Manufacture Rubber Blocks 20" X 25" X 2-3/4" Thick to the industry specification of ASTM D2000 M2BG610A14B14E014 (24) EA Ordering Data: ASTM D2000 M2BG610A14B14E014 •· M - all values stated in SI units •· 2 - Grade number; the number 2 means additional requirement are called out in the classification such as A14, B14, and E014 •· BG - material is polyurethane •· 610 - hardness is 60 +/- 5 shore A; Tensile strength is a minimum of 1,450 psi, and Ultimate elongation is a minimum of 300% •· A14 - "A" means heat resistance, 14 means ASTM test is d 573 RUN FOR 70 HOURS AT 100 Deg C. However, there are no values for a Grade 2 material. This likely because urethanes don't change hardness & tensile properties under a test of a short duration like 70 hours. •· B14 - "B" means compression set resistance, 14 means ASTM test is D 395 using method B for 22hours, @ 100 Deg C with the following properties called out: Hardness change, -5 to +10 Max Tensile loss, 25% Max Elongation loss, 45% Volume change % -10 to -5 The solicitation number is SPMYM1-16-Q-0078 and the solicitation is expected to be posted on or around 22 June 2016 and closed on 29 June 2016.
