- Title: Joint Program in Survey Methodology (JPSM) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys and Collaborating Center for Questionnaire Design and Evaluation Research, National Center for Health Statistics, Hyattsville, MD intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to the University of Maryland, 3112 Lee Bldg., 7809 Regents Drive, College Park, MD 20742-0001 for two interns for the Joint Program in Survey Methodology (JPSM). One intern to work on survey planning and operation activities for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and one JPSM intern to assist with the conduct of questionnaire design and evaluation project for both internal NCHS and non-NCHS surveys for the Collaborating Center for Questionnaire Design and Evaluation Research. The University of Maryland is the only university that has the Joint Program in Survey Methodology (JPSM). CLIN 0001: Quantity of two - JPSM Interns for 9 months. Statement of Work Title of Project: Assistance with NHANES Questionnaire Redesign. Background and Need - The Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys is seeking a JPSM intern to work on survey planning and operation activities for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). NHANES is a nationally representative survey of the US population that collects data through household interviews, physical examinations, and laboratory data on a number of health measures Project Objective - The intern will work with project officers within the Planning and Operations Branches of the Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys to assist with various aspects of the NHANES questionnaire, lab, and exam components. Scope of Work - The intern may be involved in a number of activities including; observing data collection, reviewing questionnaires, conducting data quality assurance and quality control, assisting with data release documentation and data review, and some analysis of data. There may be additional tasks and projects depending on the skills and interest of the intern, such as data review and analysis to improve data quality. Technical Requirements - Knowledge of NHANES, accessing public use data, questionnaires, and codebooks via the NHANES web, creating summary tables in Microsoft Excel, and possibly doing some descriptive analysis of the data using SAS. Reporting Schedule - Intern will provide weekly updates to supervisor and additional reports as requested by supervisor. This contract action is for a services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C 3304(a) (1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. The notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
