Description

J and A-Sun Shades-REDACTED 162nd Wing, Arizona Air National Guard (AZ ANG) Base Contracting Office at 6620 S. Air Guard Way, Tucson, AZ 85706, intends to award a Firm Fixed Price sole source contract, under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented in FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii)(A) For DoD, NASA, and the Coast Guard, services may be deemed to be available only from the original source in the case of follow-on contracts for the continued provision of highly specialized services when it is likely that award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. Notice of intent to award a sole source contract to Agate Steel Inc., NE Corner of Oak St. and Country Club Dr. Scottsdale, AZ 85256. Agate Steel Inc. engineered, manufactured, installed and has warrantied (15 years) the 162 nd WG's and the Total Force Training Center's (TFTC), Davis Monthan Air Force Base (AFB) sunshades. The 162 nd WG's warranty is valid thru September 2021. The TFTC's warranty is valid thru September 2020. The canopies at the Alert Detachment (DET) are from another manufacturer and are not covered under Agate Steel Inc.'s warranty. Since Agate Steel is the original manufacturers all warrantied items must go thru Agate Steel Inc. in order for the warranty to remain valid. Inspections and repairs performed on Agate Steel Inc.'s sunshades from companies other than Agate Steel Inc. will void the warranty. Therefore, Agate Steel Inc. is the only source capable of providing this service. 162 nd Wing ANG Base, 6620 S. Air Guard Way, Tucson, AZ 85706, is the place of the inspection and minor repair of 68 Agate ASC008 Canopies; while, TFTC, 3055 Snowbird Ave, Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ 85707, is the place and inspection and minor repair of 12 Agate ASC010 Canopies; as well as, the three Canopies at the Alert DET, 5145 S. Herkey St, Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ 85707. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition 332311, with a size standard of 750 employees. This is not a request for quote. No quotes or bids are being solicited by the government at this time. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, all interest and capability statements must be received by the Government No Later Than (NLT) 18 June 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Arizona Time, to be considered. All information submitted should support the offerors capability to provide the service required, and shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the government. A determination by the Government not to compete based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
