Description
This Sources Sought notice is for informational and planning purposes only. It does not constitute a Solicitation and is not to be considered as a commitment by the Government. All firms responding to this sources sought notice are advised that their response to this notice is not a request that will be considered for contract award. The information from this market research is for planning purposes only and will assist the Government in planning its acquisition strategy. This is strictly market research and the Government will not entertain questions concerning this market research. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 423830. The intent of this notice is to determine the availability of qualified commercial sources capable of providing the below: Nomenclature; Shear Type Shredding System Unit of Issue; 1each Item and capability description; The scrap metal shredder will be used to reduce the size of various kinds of scrap metal like copper, aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. The scrap metal shredder must be able to shred the following materials: tires, copper wire, copper tubing, refrigerators, washing machines, aluminum wheels, and sheets of steel. The goal is to minimize shipping and storage costs by reducing the size of the metal scrap. Metal shredders are usually larger pieces of equipment that can be equipped with different types of cutting systems and different speed controls depending on the products that will be shredded. Cutting systems can be horizontal shaft, vertical shaft, or multi-shaft. Metal shredders will require on or more electrical motors to supply power to the unit. Metal shredders are usually fed by a conveyor belt of some kind where the metal scrap will be placed and moved into the shredding machine. Potential offerors having the ability to provide the product described are invited to provide a statement via e-mail. The statements shall not exceed five (5) pages and must include the following: 1) Company name and Point of Contact information (address, telephone, e-mail, web-site, etc.); 2) DUNS number and CAGE code; 3) Small Business Size/Certification; and 4) Ability to provide the product. Responses are due no later than 12:00 p.m. CDT, Thursday, June 16, 2016, and shall be electronically submitted to SSG Lucinda Archer at lucinda.s.archer.mil@mail.mil. All responses will be used to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for a potential future acquisition. Response is strictly voluntary; no reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow-up information requests.
