Description
Planned Sole Source follow-on Contract with Smith-Root, Inc. for the operations and maintenance (O&M) of pulse-generating systems and computer control systems at the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal Aquatic Nuisance Species Dispersal Barriers System, Romeoville, IL Description: By way of this Notice and in accordance with the provisions of FAR 6.302-1, the Chicago District, US Army Corps of Engineers announces its intention to award a sole source follow-on contract to Smith-Root, Incorporated (SRI) of Vancouver Washington for the purpose of operating and maintaining the pulse-generating systems and associated computer control systems at three Corps-operated electric fish barriers (Demonstration Barrier, Barrier IIA, Barrier IIB) on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Romeoville, IL. The pulse-generating systems generate rapid direct current pulses of electricity that are then conveyed to underwater electrodes. They are a unique combination of specialized components and controls that were constructed and commissioned by SRI under previous contracts. SRI has technical personnel with specific experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of these pulse-generating systems and has successfully maintained them in the past. In additional to these services, the contractor will provide numerous data deliverables that are descriptive of the form, fit and function of the equipment and systems functioning at the Barriers, as installed and developed by SRI. Under the proposed contract, the overall contract completion time will be six (6) months, with a Government option to add up to an additional six (6) months. A firm-fixed price contract is proposed. The proposed contract is an interim contract; a contract for a longer period of time is to follow. This notice does not constitute a solicitation for offers, proposals, etc. However, interested firms may send a capabilities statement NO LATER THAN June 29, 2015. Statements should be sent to the attention of Wesley Dale Dewar at wesley.d.dewar@usace.army.mil; ensure that the subject line of your email address includes the title/description of this announcement. Award is anticipated on or about August 31, 2016. This announcement is in accordance with FAR 5.1.1(a) (1). The point of contact is Mr. Dewar at (312)846-5370.
