Description
New Bedford Hurricane Barrier Fender Replacement Pre-Solicitation Notice. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing a set aside for certified small business contractors for the Fender Replacement project, located at the New Bedford-Fairhaven Hurricane Barrier, New Bedford and Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The NAICS code for the work described below is 237990 (size standard $36.5M). The project is planned to be issued in July 2016, and will be set aside for Small Businesses. The construction will extend over a one-month period occurring in the winter or spring of 2017. The magnitude of this project is estimated to be between $100,000 and $250,000. Any responsible source meeting this standard may submit a bid to be considered by the New England District. The location of work to be performed under this contract shall be at the New Bedford-Fairhaven Hurricane Barrier, located in New Bedford and Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The work of this project consists of the replacement of existing and damaged timber fenders with new composite timbers at the New Bedford-Fairhaven Hurricane Barrier, Massachusetts. Work tasks include removal of the specified existing fenders and bolts, and installation of new composite timbers and bolts at both sector gates. The Contractor will be restricted to work only on one side (sector gate) at a time. Underwater work is required for this project, including removal of damaged items, potential debris removal, installation of new components, and inspections. The work site is located in a navigation channel, which will remain open to traffic during the prosecution of the work. Please note this solicitation is set aside for certified small businesses. This is not a request for proposals at this time, the solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date will be available on or about June 30th, 2016. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation offerors must access the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov).
