Description
Market Survey Final Drive Carrier The Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems (BFVS) was fielded in the U.S. Army's arsenal inventory in the early 1980s. As the BFVS has gone through its natural life cycle, weight was added to adapt to evolving threats and requirements. The reliability and performance diminished as the vehicle weight increased. The BFVS is undergoing a series of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to regain that lost reliability and performance. PM AFV is seeking information on interested sources capable of providing a replacement Final Drive and Carrier for the BFVS that will accommodate the vehicle's increased weight. The engine and transmission deliver power to the Final Drives that convert the power to the Drive Sprocket Carrier allowing the vehicle to move. The BFVS' current Final Drives and Carriers are being used beyond their intended functions and capabilities at the current vehicle weight. Additionally, the operating environment, heavy vehicle weight, different types of terrain, evasive maneuvers, high ambient temperatures and high operating tempos necessitate the need for a final drive and carrier that is able to withstand the heavier vehicle weight and loads.
