Description

1.There are references in multiple locations to providing equipment for this project, for example on the Synopsis on the fbo.gov site, in the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation Notice and Drawing M1, however the contract documents, nor specifications, identify any type of equipment to be provided. Drawing M1, HVAC General Note D, states that design was based on Lab Products, Inc. RAIR HD Super Mouse 1800 and Super Rat 1400 cage rack systems and the final equipment vendor is to be coordinated by the VA and the installer, but it is not clear who, either the contractor or the VA, is to provide the equipment. Please clarify. Answer: The VA purchased Lab Products, Inc. RAIR HD Super Mouse 1800 and Super Rat 1400 cage rack systems for the nine project rooms. The cage rack systems have been delivered and installed, with the exception of the connection to the building exhaust system. Notes A, B, and C in the Animal Housing Unit Notes on Drawing M1 are revised as follows: The contractor is to provide the following items: A.4" dia sheet metal ceiling drop, extending 5" beneath hard ceiling, for locations shown on drawings M2, M3, and M4. Sheet metal transition piece from each ceiling drop to 4" dia flexible exhaust hose. Transition piece shall contain LPI, Inc. adjustable damper (#C397881). Submit shop drawing for transition piece to VA for approval. B.LPI, Inc. 4" dia flexible exhaust hose with quantity 2 stainless steel clamps for each ceiling drop. Assume 4 foot length for flexible exhaust hose for bidding purposes. Refer to drawings M5 and M6 for hose connection points and routings to mouse and rat cage rack systems. C.LPI, Inc. air regulator valve (#59015VE) for each ceiling drop. 2.Drawing M2, Note 3, Drawing M3, Note 2, and Drawing M4, Note 3, all state to cut and patch ceiling in outlined area in order to access above ceiling for ductwork modifications. In rooms BF-451, BF-453, BF-455, BF-460, BF-461, and BF-462, these areas indicated to cut and patch are not close enough to perform the cutting and capping of the existing supply air branches at the supply mains. Are the supply run outs to be capped above the ceiling penetrations and abandoned in place or will there be revisions for additional access above ceiling for ductwork modifications? Answer: Close damper, remove flex duct (if present), cap supply branch above ceiling and abandon. In addition to the cut/patch of the gypsum board ceiling, additional access above ceiling can be attained via the existing access panels, the 'lay-in' ceiling diffusers, and some lighting fixtures. 3.On Drawing M2, the supply ductwork passing through the wall from BF-462 and BF-460 appear to be passing through a fire rated wall. May we cut and cap the duct on either side? Answer: Yes. 4. The specs for solicitation VA250-16-Q-0287 lists 7 drawings as being part of the scope of work. Only 4 drawings were included with the bid documents on the FBO website. Drawings M2, M3 and M4 are not included in the bid documents. Are drawings M2, M3 and M4 part of the scope of work? Answer: Yes, drawings M2, M3, and M4 were posted to fbo.gov on June 3, 2016. Refer to file named "Description: VA250-16-Q-0287 Drawings - split set, part 1 of 3.pdf"
