- Description
- 1. The proposed construction project is for construction work to renovate a building on Chievres Air Base, Belgium. The work described below is to remove asbestos (floor tiles, glue and pipes), paints containing lead (floor paint, metallic door and painted electrical cable), and renovation of the building. Demolition and reconstruction of ground floor. Construction work consists as a minimum of the following: Asbestos and lead removal work Removal work Floor work Painting work Inside carpentry work Electrical work HVAC and sanitary work Miscellaneous work 2. All work shall be in strict conformance with the best practices of the trades involved. The contractor shall employ workmen who are skilled in their particular trades. In particular, all works with potential risk of refrigerants release to the atmosphere shall be conducted under the direct supervision or by a person with a category I certificate as specified in the EU regulation (EC) 303/2008 and valid for the Walloon Region area. 3. For safety purposes, during the execution of the work, the contractor's workers shall be able to speak French or English. All materials shall be brand new. The prospective contractor shall in no way use asbestos containing materials. The paints shall be lead free. All hazardous products brought on site by a prospective contractor shall be documented on a safety sheet. Prime & subcontractors shall be certified in accordance with the Royal Decree of 28 March 2007 related to the certification of firms and contractors who execute demolition or removal works during which large quantities of asbestos may be released (B.S.26.4.2007; 1st issue) Modified by (1) royal Decree of 26 April 2009 (B.M.13.5.2009). 4. The solicitation will result in a Firm Fixed Price Construction Contract. It may include brand name or equal items. The magnitude of the project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. 5. The performance period is 180 calendar days and does not include a preparation time. 6. The solicitation will be issued on or about 15 July 2016 with an anticipated bid opening date of 14 August 2016. The solicitation will be at the following website: https://www.fbo.gov/. Paper copies will not be available. Once the solicitation is posted, it is incumbent upon parties to review the website frequently for any updates/amendments. 7. Work will be performed in Belgium and the prospective contractor must comply with any and all currently applicable federal and municipal Belgium laws (e.g. authorization to do business in Belgium). 8.
