- Acknowledgement page Solicitation and Specs The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District Office requires a contract in which the contractor shall provide labor, equipment, and materials to incorporate a new checkpoint design for a 1.4 mile site to include demolition of existing checkpoint without any operational interruption. This new checkpoint will consist of the following: 8 primary inspection lames (4 non-commercial/ 4 commercial) with full canopy, 16 secondary inspection lanes (8 non-commercial/ 8 commercial) with full canopy, administration/ processing building, secondary evidence storage building with loading dock, vehicle lift area, 10 short stay kennels, 150 foot antenna, 3900 square foot impound lot, 34 parking spaces, 12000 combined regular/ diesel fueling system, water well system, and septic system with an estimated construction cost between $20M to $25M. This new project is located 14 miles South of Falfurrias, Texas, in Brooks County and will be phased not to exceed 600 calendar days duration. There will be options. During new construction an emphasis must be place on project phasing (maintaining current checkpoint traffic operations; bringing new checkpoint site up to full operation without any downtime). Borrow material (fill material) may be available through King Ranch, Rachel Foundation, or other land owners in the local area. Contract is responsible for acquiring borrow material as needed in accordance to contract requirements.
