- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The government intends to award a fixed price purchase order to Wilson Wolf Manufacturing Corporation, New Brighton, MN 55112. The Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center (CC), Bethesda, MD has a requirement to procure the below supply and quantity: Item Number: 80000E Description: GatheRex Liquid Handling Pump Unit of Issue: EA Quantity: 3 The government reserves the right to increase quantities pursuant to FAR 52.217-6, Option for Increased Quantity. The total of the contract will not exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. There is a currently a need for automation to concentrate and collect cells for clinical use. The GatheRex is a liquid handling device that is designed to work with G-Rex cell culture devices in order to provide customers with the ability to manufacture cells in a strict cGMP setting. The GatheRex has been adapted for the G-Rex devices to work in a closed system format. The GatheRex connects to the closed system device and uses a forced air mechanism to remove media, thereby concentrating the cells and significantly minimizes storage and/or downstream processing. An air pump pressurizes the system by pumping air through the sterile vent filter on the G-Rex device. When pressurized, the excess media or cell fraction is forced out of the device, through the tubing assembly, and into a collection receptacle. The GatheRex instrument is currently the only known instrument that can provide concentration and harvesting of cells from the GREX culture containers. Lastly, the cells that are to be used for clinical trials must under FDA regulations, specifically, the reagents to be used must be qualified in terms of the DTM SOPs which must go through DTM's Quality Assurance Program for approval. The vendor of this system is a qualified vendor and is able to provide clinical grade reagents.
