Description
The US Army Natick Research Engineering and Development Center (NSRDEC) in Natick, Massachusetts is issuing this Sources Sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify potential sources that have the ability to provide an Accelerated Solvent Extractor (ASE) that will have 24 extraction cell positions for 22 mL cells. This ASE must be able to extract organic compounds from solid and semisolid samples with liquid solvent at elevated temperatures and pressure to increase the efficiency of the extraction process. The ASE must meet the requirements for the extraction under US EPA SW-846 Method 3545A for Pressurized Fluid Extraction of base/neutrals and acids (BNA), organophosphorus pesticides (OPP), Chlorinated pesticides and herbicides, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB), polychlorinated dibenzo-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF), and diesel range organics (DRO). The ASE carousel must provide for unattended operation. The cells must be stainless steel, have finger-tight fittings and be available in a variety of sizes including 1,5,10,22,34,66 and 100 mL. It must have a front panel operations that will run methods automatically for up to 24 samples. The operation panel must allow for method and sequence editing. The ASE must protect against cell and collection vessel mismatch and optimize oven heat-up to match cell size and type. It must also have sensors for temperature, pressure, solvent and liquid leak alert to alert the operator if a problem occurs with an audible alarm and shut down the system if necessary. The results of this market research will used to determine the method of procurement.
