Description
There is a need for Exterior Tuck Pointing at the Columbia Federal Building and US Courthouse, Columbia, Tennessee. The Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Columbia, TN, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property to the Columbia Commercial Historic District and an individual National Register nomination is pending. The building is significant in the areas of Politics/Government and Architecture for its association with New Deal-area federal building construction campaigns, as well as for its notable representation of the Stripped Classical architectural style. The building retains a high degree of exterior integrity as alterations to the facade and side elevations of the building have been minimal and generally completed in-kind with the materials, finishes, and details of the original building. The General Services Administration proposes to undergo a project to restore the building façade at the Columbia Federal Building & Courthouse. The project will consist of tuck pointing the entire existing façade, removal of two or three of the stone panels at an inconspicuous location to access the condition of the anchors supporting them, Coating the coping top cap at the parapet roofs with a reinforced, fluid-applied waterproofing compound to prevent moisture infiltration through the porous limestone and through cracks in the material, replacing the existing roof strainers with new basket-type strainers, and routing/cleaning the existing roof drain pipes to remove dirt and debris that may be present in the pipes. The NAICS CODE is 236220. A Bid Bond is required with the request for proposal. The Construction Magnitude Range for the project is $250,000 to $500,000. The contract will be firm fixed price. Contractor or Subcontractor must possess the experience of 3 similar Masonry Projects in the last 2 years. Award will be made to the conntractor possessing a proposal that is technically acceptable with the lowest price.
