- Description
- Pressure Treated Lumber, Red Cedar Lumber, and Hardware for Bridge Decking Material for the Road and Trails Branch at Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County, California. This amendment is to provide answers to the following questions: Q1. I see the grade and the fact it is pressure treated -- however, nothing regarding specie. Can you identify please? A1. Doug fir or better. Q2. Could you also be more specific with regard to treatment? There is mention of being fire retardant, in 'normal pressure treated lumber', there is no fire retardant characteristic - therefore, it would need to be treated with fire retardant chemical to be so. QPL certified? A2. Treated so it still may be used/recommended for water way areas requiring minimum leaching aspects from materials. Q3. Item 11 under hardware identifies '500 3/8" NUTS, WASHER, SPLIT WASHER': IS THIS 500 EACH? A3. Yes 500 each. Q4. Items 16, 17, 18 identify '2000 each 3/8" nuts, 3/8" flat washer, 3/8" split washer': IS THIS A DUPLICATE OF ITEM 11? IN TOTAL, YOU WANT 2500 OF EACH? A4. Yes in total 2,500 of each item (See Revised Specifications). Q5. For the Cedar, you say free of knots - which means CLEAR in lumber terms. Would you accept 'TIGHT KNOT' CEDAR? It is a milled grade that is not as expensive, however, perfectly functional. A5. We want free/clear on cedar for bridge signs. Q6. For the timbers - we do not know whether you are wanting 'S4S' (surfaced) or rough timbers - and/or full sawn (like the Cedar) or standard sawn? A6. Rough sawn timbers. Q7. For timber do you want 'S4S' (surfaced) or rough timbers - and/or full sawn (like the Cedar) or standard sawn? A7. Standard Sawn. Q8. Does the Pressure Treated lumber need to be brown? A8. Does not need to be brown, lighter color or more natural wood color preferred. Q9. Can you confirm that on hwy 140, trucks can ¿t be longer than 45 feet in length? Also, coming in on the 140 from the east, trucks over 45' need to be escorted? A9. No trucks over 45 feet due to turning radius over bridges.
