- AMENDMENT 01 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS #1 1. Question: Is there a region of interest on the parts? Answer: Yes, the explosive loaded portion of the nose. See the drawing provided with the Solicitation. 2. Question: How is part moved from pallet to carrier? Answer: Projectile is moved from a pallet to the conveyor using a lifting lug and a manipulator. 3. Question: Are we responsible for this device? Answer: No the contractor is NOT responsible for any device used to load/unload the conveyor with projectiles. 4. Question: Does the x-ray system need to be explosion proof? Answer: No, the area behind the wall where the x-ray will be located will be a non-rated area. The projectiles are sealed with lifting lug, no exposed explosive. The system does, however, need to be able to be grounded (so that it does not build up static). 5. Question: Are only the attendees at this site meeting allowed to bid on this solicitation? Answer: Yes. The site visit was mandatory. 6. Question: Tunnel openings to be re-used? Not large enough today...fire protection piping currently in the way. Will fire plumbing be removed from tunnel door? Answer: The fire suppression piping will be removed from the tunnel opening for the conveyor. The tunnel opening is 30 inches wide by 72 inches tall. Note: Change from Site Visit discussion: Only ONE tunnel opening will be used. Will be using a door for the other side for the conveyor (will NOT be using the tunnel opening in front of the production line that will be staying on left hand side. Will only be using the tunnel opening on the right hand side because that entire production line will be remove. FLOOR PLAN WITH THIS UPDATE WILL BE PROVIDED. 7. Question: What are the dimensions of the tunnel opening? Answer: 30 inches wide by 72 inches tall. 8. Question: What is available overhead where built? Answer: 9 foot 5 inches; however, if CAAA needs to move light fixtures up, we can go as high as 10 foot 6 inches. (All of the fire suppression red piping will be coming out overhead). 9. Question: Where is the control console going to go? Answer: Based on the floor plan and available space, suggest that the contractor propose the best area where the control console should go. But, needs to be on the side of the wall with the x-ray machine. 10. Question: Clarification of what is meant by 3 types of material "TNT"? Answer: 1 projectile (M1122), with two possible explosive loads in the nose. One explosive load is IMX-101, and the other is TNT. 11. Question: What is the max height clearance in the location of the x-ray system? Answer: 9 foot 5 inches; however, if CAAA needs to move light fixtures up, we can go as high as 10 foot 6 inches. (All of the fire suppression red piping will be coming out overhead). 12. Question: Room side of wall is radiation area and where operator sits? Answer: Yes, radiographer and cabinet will be on the other side of the wall from the conveyor. 13. Question: Can I get a copy of MIL-DTL-32374? Answer: MIL-DTL-32374 and other technical data/drawings are provided with the Solicitation on FedBizOpps. See the Solicitation, under heading "(2) Access to EXPORT CONTROL TDPs", which provides instructions on how to obtain the documents. Note that per paragraph (i) under this heading, contractors must have a current DD 2345 (Military Critical Technical Data Agreement) on file with DLIS in order to access these Export Control documents. Paragraph (i) provides a web link to instructions for submission of this form. 14. Question: On tunnels, can fire suppression piping be removed? Answer: Yes, and it will be. 15. Question: How is inspection carried out currently? Answer: That is not relevant to this Solicitation. This is an entirely new system. 16. Question: How many (projectiles) at a time? Answer: Your system will determine limitations. 17. Question: Is electrical Class I Div I required? Answer: No, the area behind the wall where the x-ray will be located will be a non-rated area. The projectiles are sealed with lifting lug, no exposed explosive. The system does, however, need to be able to be grounded (so that it does not build up static). 18. Question: Power distribution - will it be brought to the x-ray system? Answer: Yes, proposals should provide electrical needs
