Description

Government requires one (1) base year and two (2) option years of equipment maintenance The Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Weapons and Materials Research Directorate's (WMRD) Macromolecular Science and Technology Branch requires the procurement of equipment maintenance for a Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type X-ray generator located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The procurement of this service contract will allow ARL users to continue to use the Rigaku Ultrax18 rotating X-ray generator. The Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type X-ray generator was previously procured under contract number W911QX15P0184 for $17,764.00 and is used to support mission-funded ARL research programs in materials science and engineering for applications pertaining to the Warfighter including portable power and lightweighting. Failure to maintain this instrument jeopardizes the completion of these research programs and thus this ARL mission. The Rigaku Ultrax18 rotating anode X-ray generator requires periodic routine maintenance in order to be fully operational and to meet the original operational specifications as determined by the manufacturer and approved by ARL. Rigaku Americas Corporation is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and is the only vendor with the technical knowledge to service the Government owned Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type Xray generator. Maintenancece for the Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type X-ray generator was previously procured under contract number W911QX-09-P-0391. Failure to procure these required service contract for the Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type X-ray generator will result in significant losses of time and resources while the instrument is diagnosed and subsequently repaired in separate, lengthy procurement actions. Due to the specialized nature and age of this instrument, only the OEM, Rigaku Americas Corporation, is capable of performing the necessary, maintenance on the Rigaku "Ultrax18" rotating-anode type X-ray generator.
