Description
The 821 Contingency Response Group Force Protection section has an emerging requirement for a lightweight tactical combat vest that has the capability of being scalable based upon the threat environment. The vest must incorporate Level 3a soft armor and be compatible with our E-SAPI and Side-SAPI plates. The vest must have a fire retardant finish. The color pattern required is coyote tan in order to balance the need to match our uniform while maximizing our survivability in our projected battlefield locations. Additionally, the system must include: MOLLE compatible webbing attachment system, Reinforced Man-Down strap, Internal plate retention system, plate centering strap in front, Back to front adjustable shoulder webbing with 2' VELCRO, Side adjustable plate carriers with front buckle closure, and National Molding Stix place retention system on back, Removable throat and collar yokes with webbing snap, and VELCRO brand fastener attachment system, Removable biceps with 4'x4' panel ID loop, webbing MOLLE compatible strips, 2' VELCRO® brand fastener closure, Removable ballistics capability. The system must also be compatible with the reporting instructions for the locations we will be operating out of. The IOTV Gen4 is a combat tested system utilized by the 435 Contingency Response Group. The 435 CRG successfully utilized this system in order to accomplish their mission set. The mission set of the 821 CRG and 435 CRG are comparable Furthermore, the locations the IOTV Gen4 was employed in are the same projected environments that is driving our requirement for this system. The IOTV Gen4 is the updated IOTV Gen III military issue improved outer tactical vest. The unique features of this vest include OCP and Coyote Brown pattern, which is required in accordance with line remarks for the Unit Type Code QFEPF mission sets. The Gen4 IOTV has a unique fire retardant finish, 500 denier nylon Cordura, water repellent, side plate pockets, front and back plate pockets, and removable panels in XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL. This product is unavailable in the base supply system.
