- Description
- Background/Introduction: The surface current mapping network project consists of 6 SeaSonde high frequency (HF) radars that measure the coastal surface currents and transfer them to a NOAA data server in near-real time. These data are available to the public. The HF radars are controlled by proprietary software, licensed and supplied by the sole manufacturer of the HF radar systems, Codar Ocean Sensors Ltd. Minimal Technical Requirements/Salient Characteristics: The processor/software to control the SeaSonde HF radars is critical to the proper operation of the HF instruments. The SeaSonde HF radars operate at FCC regulated frequencies, and the software controls, among other things, the center frequency, frequency bandwith, and radiated power output required to operate within FCC regulations and within performance specifications to provide high quality ocean current data. The processor/software packages currently deployed in the field have exceeded their expected lifetime and are in need of replacement/upgrade. Upgrade of the processor/software system is only possible through the hardware manufacturer (Codar Ocean Sensors, Ltd.) because the software is proprietary. Additionally the processor must physically fit into the environmental enclosures containing the hardware deployed in the field. The vendor supplies a processor/software package that meets all of these requirements. Further there are no other vendors that sell the this package. Delivery: Delivery is required by 15 SEP 2016 (or sooner if feasible); Delivery Location is 1988 Lake Del Monte Dr., Monterey, CA 93943. Responsibility and Inspection: unless otherwise specified in the order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements and quality control.
