- Project Map SYNOPSIS FOR RFQ #AG-9AB5-S-16-0057 The purpose of this project is to procure labor to conduct manual cutting and herbicide application activities to eradicate noxious weed infestations in wildland and roadside settings on the Cleveland National Forest. The contractor will provide a crew of five individuals and one supervisor to conduct eradication activities. The crew will be "on-call" to work the amount of days ordered under the contract over a three year period. Removal efforts will primarily involve cutting stems of species like tamarisk and locust and application of herbicides to cut surfaces (cut stump applications). Work may also involve handpulling annual weed species, weed wrenching, and foliar application of herbicide to resprouts. Areas will be retreated in the following season with foliar spraying of previously treated areas to target reprouting plants. Cutting may involve the use of chainsaws or handtools. Herbicide applications will be conducted using backpack sprayers. The work may occur anywhere on the Palomar Ranger District north of Highway 78 (see map). Biomass will be left on site in remote areas. In campgrounds and roadsides, biomass will be hauled and disposed of in appropriate landfills. Some work may occur in remote locations requiring substantial hiking. All removal efforts will be recorded with a GPS and field notes. Herbicide use logs detailing daily chemical applications will be required to be provided to the US Forest Service. The Forest Service highly recommends a site visit prior to bidding to ensure complete knowledge of site conditions and the difficulty of operations. The estimated contract time is 36 months after receipt of Notice to Proceed (NTP). Estimated start work date is TBD. This project is being issued 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside.
