Description
Drawings/Details of Existing Centrifugal Fans CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA REPLACEMENT OF EXHAUST FANS FACILITY MANAGEMENT Replacement of smoke extraction fans at the consulate property, in Tokai,Cape Town. GENERAL SCOPE OF THE PROJECT The aim of the project is to replace seven existing rusted centrifugal fans with similar ones made of stainless steel. Contractor shall be responsible for: • All electrical and mechanical works under this scope of work. • Dismantling, rigging out, and transportation of all redundant components from site. • Designing, manufacturing, transportation, installation and commissioning of the new fans • All scaffolding, barricading and rigging requirements of the project. • Ensuring that there is no damage to the surrounding infrastructure and any damage shall be repaired to our satisfaction at the cost of the contractor. Details of existing fans will be provided to prospective contractors and dimensions on the drawings provided are for costing purposes only. Contractor shall be responsible for taking actual measurements onsite. All electrical works are to be carried out in compliance with SANS 10142 DESCRIPTION OF WORK FAN REPLACEMENT 1. Disconnect, and isolate power from existing fans and ensure that they are safe to work on. Existing power cables, isolators and electric motors will be reused. 2. Dismantle existing fans and remove all redundant mechanical components from site. 3. Design and manufacture new fans with similar or better performance characteristics as that of existing ones. Performance data and curves for existing fans will be provided. The impeller, hub, shaft, drive pulley and housing of the new fan shall be made of 304 stainless steel. 4. Transport, rig into position and install new fans on suitable vibration isolators. 5. Carry out onsite balancing and provide tests reports. COMMISSIONING 1. Contractor shall provide all facilities, manpower, material, and tools to test the fans before handover. 2. Contractor shall perform tests to verify that all tests, readings, and performance characteristics agree with design parameters. 3. Any defects of workmanship, material and performance which may become apparent on the works carried out during testing or commissioning shall be rectified by the contrctor at his own expense and the relevant part of the testing or commissioning procedure shall be repeated at the contractor's expense. Contractor shall provide the following documents on handover: 1. Complete tests and commissioning reports 2. All documentation regarding warranties and guarantees. 3. Two (2) copies of "As Installed" Operation and Maintenance Manuals incorporating the following: • Equipment description with model numbers • Manufacturer's technical literature as appropriate • Schedules of equipment stating performance figures and selection data 4. Safety file covering all aspects of the project. Period of Performance The work is expected to be completed within a 3 week-time frame once work begins. Instructions for Bidders All interested bidders are invited to attend a Pre-Proposal Site Visit scheduled August 4, 2016 at 09:00 to familiarize themselves with the extent of the works. Contractors are encouraged to verify all dimensions and site conditions during this visit, and ask any questions. Firms can register a maximum of two representatives by sending an email request to tambosw@state.gov ; MutandiriB@state.gov ; DaamesSX@state.gov by August 2, 2016 at 18:00PM, providing names, South African ID numbers and vehicle information. Attendance is not required, however additional costs or time extensions resulting from not attending the site visit or incorrectly interpreting the scope of works are entirely the burden of the contractor. All quotes need to emailed to fordn@state.gov by August 7, 2016, no later than 17:00 PM.
