- UPDATE 8/3/2016 : A final solicitation is expected to be posted no later than Friday, August 5, 2016. SITE VISIT : There will be an organized site visit on Friday August 12, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interested parties should meet at the West Glacier Trailhead parking lot (end of road past Mendenhall Campground). *************************************************************** This is a presolicitation notice for the Forest Service Region 10 West Glacier Spur Road Area Enhancement Project in Juneau Alaska. The West Glacier Trailhead and Skaters' Cabin are located on the Southwest corner of Mendenhall Lake on Skater's Creek Road, approximately 13 miles from downtown Juneau, Alaska. The Forest Service is conducting Market Research via a separate FBO Sources Sought Notice to determine a procurement strategy including any appropriate set aside or reservation of this requirement for any specific small business category. This presolicitation notice is posted to simply notify interested vendors of a possible opportunity. This work involves the following: 1. Construction of a multi-use trail from Skater's Cabin to West Glacier Trailhead including two trail bridges, a crosswalk and bike racks. 2. Improvements at the West Glacier Trailhead including installation of a contractor provided SST Toilet, aggregate paths, staircases, and beach improvements. 3. Construction of a parking lot at Skater's cabin, reconstruction of two existing parking lots and culverts. 4. Reconstruction of the parking area and improvements to the Tolch Rock Trail. 5. Water valve and meter relocation near Skater's Cabin. 6. Installation of Contractor Provided signs (included in sign plan). 7. Installation of Contractor provided bollards at Arctic Drive. 8. Construction of a 250' x 6' wide aggregate path along along the west side of West Glacier Trailhead parking lot. A draft copy of the project drawings are provided for information purposes only. Final posting of the solicitation may include revised drawings. The anticipated period of performance is 365 days from date of award. Price Range: $500,000 - $1,000,000 for base plus all option items. A bid bond/bid guarantee in the amount of 20% of the total bid amount (base + all options) will be required.
