- Description
- The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on vendors that are capable of providing two (2) Quantum Cascade Distributed Feedback Diode Lasers meeting the requirements discussed below. The purpose of this notice is to identify organizations capable of providing equipment which meets these requirements. This announcement is not a Request for Proposals or Quotes (RFP/RFQ) and does not commit the Government to award a contract now or in the future. The information contained in this notice is DRAFT only and as such, is subject to change prior to issuance of a solicitation. No solicitation is available at this time. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive or non-competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two qualified small business sources are identified during this market research stage, and they are proposing equipment which complies with the Non-Manufacturer Rule standards/exceptions, this acquisition may be solicited as a small business set aside. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large and small businesses (SB, SDB, WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB and VOSB). This requirement is assigned a NAICS code of 334516 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Interested business organizations that believe they may be capable of meeting some or all of NIST's desired specifications detailed below should provide a capability statement demonstrating the ability of the Contractor's equipment to meet all of NIST's requirements. Contractors may provide supplemental information within this document or as an attachment at their discretion. NIST requires two (2) Quantum Cascade Distributed Feedback Diode Lasers for use in a cavity ring-down spectrometer to probe atmospheric CO2 and CO. The Quantum Cascade Distributed Feedback Diode Lasers must meet the following technical requirements: • Laser must have a tuning range of at least 2207 to 2211 cm-1. • Must have an output power of at least 20 m W. • Continuous wave output. • Must operate at temperatures above -350 C. • Requires only TEC Cooling (i.e. not liquid nitrogen). • Requires a drive current of less than 1 A. • Single mode output. • Laser housing and mounting must be included. • Item must be compatible with standard ILX temperature and current drivers. • Laser linewidth <12 MHz. • Light must be emitted opposite the pins. • Output must be collimated with an included lens which is mounted to the laser.
