Description
Optics for Radiant Emittance Experimentation Vendor will produce seven (7) different optical components for the High-Temperature Emissivity Measurement System (HiTEMS) to the given specifications. The vendor must operate clean rooms capable of producing etched plates of fused silica up to 4" in diameter with etch depth accuracy measurable to achieve λ/20 wave phase accuracy. This includes all steps of patterning, including deposition of photoresist and contact printing, etching, and depth measurement. Upon completion of the developed seven (7) optical components they are to be shipped or delivered to the NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center. The vendor must also operate a diamond turning machine capable of free-form surface production. The as-purchased diamond turning machine should meet the following specifications: • Compact footprint (H: 62", D: 51", L: 51") • Natural granite base with passive air isolation system • Box-way hydrostatic oil bearing slides on both linear axes (high stiffness of 2,000,000 lbs./in.) • Linear drive motors on both axes, with fail-safe braking mechanism • X & Z axes travel: 200mm • Workpiece swing capacity up to 350mm dia. • 10,000 rpm Heavy-Duty Professional Instruments groove compensated Air Bearing Workspindle (liquid cooling option) with less than 25 nanometer (1µ") axial & radial motion error. • Laser holographic linear scale feedback system with 0.034 nanometer resolution • Delta Tau PC based CNC motion controller with 1.0 nanometer Programming Resolution • C-axis Positioning Control of the Work Spindle which allows continuous path contouring via X,Z,&C axes for single point diamond machining of toric & freeform surfaces with "Slow-Slide- Servo" machining process. Geometrically optimized optics are required to couple the thermal radiant energy emitted from two different sources into an FTIR. Each source requires a separate optical system. Each system must meet the existing geometrical configuration of the different, tube-connected optical paths between the two different radiant sources and the FTIR. Each optical system must fit within the existing Blackbody Optical Assembly box and the existing Chamber Optical Assembly box. The optics must produce the properly scaled output given the positions of the sources relative to the Optical Assembly boxes while minimizing the aberrations. The optics must be coated to operate from 500nm to 25000nm. Table 1 contains nominal surface form definition for the optical components required. Note that the surfaces are non-rotationally symmetric and the size of each element must fit within the existing mounting envelop, less than 100mm in diameter. Table 1: Nominal Surface Definitions Element Number Nominal Definition (in mm unless otherwise noted) 1 Convex, R=-335mm, NRad=35, Z4=0.519870, Z5=0.001407, Z7=-0.008115, Z10=0.045157, Z12=-0.022583, Z14=-0.021847, Z16=0.037844, Z17=0.056317, Z19=-0.042458, Z21=-0.15985, Zernike Sur 2 Concave, Rx = 662.2mm, Ry= Infinity, Toroid 3 Concave, R=464mm, N.Rad=35, Z4=0.532940, Z5=-0.565332, Z7=0.009129, Z10=0.034990, Z12=0.005299, Z14=0.001873, Z16=-0.000675, Z17=-0.005975, Z19=0.001664, Zernike Surface 4 Concave, R=520mm, k=-1.00, Aperture Decenter =260.00mm 5 Concave, Rx=425mm, Ry = 2755, Toroid 6 Convex, R=800mm, k=-8.63, Aperture Decenter = 105.00mm A beam profile modifying optic is also required. The optic will provide variable modification to an incident laser beam onto a sample in an evacuated chamber. The optic must be able to withstand 50W of CW power at a wavelength of 1.06um. The incident beam can be assumed to be a Gaussian TEM00 beam, and the purpose is to provide a more uniform beam on the sample in the chamber. Uniformity is defined by a measure of irradiance as a function of encircled or ensquared energy. Ease of use, alignment and beam modifying adjustment are desired. A final data report is to be delivered by the end of the period of performance. The period of performance will be from 08/31/2016 to 12/31/2016.
