Contract Title. NMVAHCS Dental Service Dental Curing Lights and Shields 3. Background. The purpose of this equipment request submission is to build up a sufficient stock of dental curing lights to enable the NMVAHC Dental Clinic to ensure sufficient stock is available to support 5 general dentists and 4 full time specialty dentists (endodontist and prosthodontists). All of these curing lights will replace those that are beyond their expected life expectancy and make sufficient quantity available to have 1 light in each operatory. Other factors: 1.The curing lights are used to cure composite materials that are used in 90% of all dental restorative procedures. 2.These curing lights also allow the clinic to comply with current infection control guidelines as spelled out by the Office of Dentistry and NMVAHCS SOP. 3.Purchasing the specific brand of curing lights will also comply with the VA's efforts to streamline equipment in the facility so that there are not multiple brands. 4.The curing light must not have detachable tips which will eliminate the need for sterilization and allows for disposable barriers to be used instead. VA general and specialty dentists and dental assistants use these curing lights in the treatment of a variety of dental procedures. These curing lights must be of high quality and be able to withstand constant usage and various modes of sterilization without degradation or etching as a result. High quality curing lights, available in the required quantity, constitute the standard of care and are critically important in the practice of all types of dentistry and oral surgery. This equipment will be used by general and specialty dentists and an oral surgeon, dental hygienist as well as dental assistants, in the diagnosis and treatment of every dental patient. Our ultimate goal is a clearly delineated diagnosis, focused treatment plan, and expeditious and focused treatment to return the individual to optimum dental function. Our goal continues to be the provision of the best possible and most up-to-date treatment for Veteran patients presenting with dental problems. 5. Specific Tasks. The work will be performed in the NMVAHCS Dental Service Clinic in Albuquerque and in the Northwest Community Based Outpatient Clinic (NWCBOC) Dental Suite in Rio Rancho, NM. 12.
